Individual Therapy

Joey (Yiyun) Jiang is a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at Palo Alto University. She earned her Master of Science in Developmental Disorders and Clinical Practice from the University of York, UK. Before beginning her doctoral training in the United States, she worked as a therapist in China, supporting adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families navigating a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.

Her clinical training has included work in community mental health and LGBTQ+ affirming settings, supporting immigrants, international students, and individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. Having lived, studied, and worked across different cultures, Joey appreciates the unique experiences, strengths, and challenges that each person brings into therapy. She provides therapy in both English and Mandarin and welcomes clients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Joey's therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and culturally responsive. She believes that meaningful change begins with feeling understood, accepted, and supported. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based approaches, and other evidence-based interventions, she works alongside clients to better understand themselves, strengthen coping skills, and navigate life's challenges with greater confidence and self-compassion. Rather than focusing solely on symptom reduction, she values helping clients deepen their connection with themselves, clarify what matters most to them, and build healthier relationships with others.

Sometimes the moments that feel most uncertain are also when new possibilities quietly begin to emerge. Whatever you may be facing, you do not have to face it alone.

In addition to her clinical work, Joey is involved in research on relationship diversity, consensual non-monogamy (CNM), and identity development. Her research interests include understanding how people navigate questions of identity, intimacy, belonging, and connection across diverse cultural and relationship contexts.
