Hattie is a fourth-year clinical psychology PhD student at Palo Alto University. She earned her MA in Clinical Psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, and her BA in Psychology and BS in Public Relations from Boston University. Born and raised in China and having lived and studied across different cultural contexts, Hattie understands the important role culture, language, family values, and identity play in shaping how individuals experience psychological distress and seek support. She is committed to providing a culturally responsive, inclusive, and affirming environment where clients feel understood, respected, and empowered.

Hattie has experience working with adults and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, life transitions, relationship concerns, and cognitive changes. Her therapeutic approach is collaborative, strengths-based, and tailored to each client's unique needs. She draws from evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)-informed interventions, and person-centered therapy.

She views assessment as an opportunity to help clients better understand their strengths, challenges, and pathways toward growth.

In addition to psychotherapy, Hattie has training in psychological and neuropsychological assessment and conducts evaluations in both English and Mandarin.

Outside of her clinical work, Hattie conducts research in aging, neuropsychology, and well-being, with a particular interest in factors that promote resilience and quality of life in later adulthood. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her cat and discovering new coffee shops.
