Dr. Hasan collaborates with each person seeking therapy to develop a tailored plan that addresses their unique reasons for seeking care. He approaches therapy flexibly and responsively, aiming to develop a sense of safety for people to share what's important. He respects each individual's choice to share what they wish, and has found that people tend to make meaningful change when they access their core emotions, needs, and desires — deepening their self-understanding as well as their connection to themselves and others. He also assists people in working through adverse experiences from the past that may be influencing one's life in the present.
This approach is psychodynamic, which Dr. Hasan intertwines with a specialized version called Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Therapy (AEDP). He also draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) when these align with someone's needs and preferences.
Growth happens when we create enough safety to honestly explore what's getting in our way — and enough trust to try something different.
